Our Story

At Transformer Hockey, we believe training equipment should evolve with the speed and creativity of today’s game. For decades, players and coaches have relied on cones and traditional pylons– each useful, but limited. Cones are light and portable, yet too small to mimic real defensive pressure. Standard pylons offer better height and structure, but they’re bulky, difficult to transport, and often not built to withstand high-intensity training.

That gap is what sparked the creation of the Transformer Pylon.

Our founder, John Huh, spent over 20 years coaching hockey in Vancouver, BC. After testing countless tools over the years, he found most were too bulky to bring to the rink. Like many coaches, he’d also accumulated a growing collection of unused sticks. “I wanted to design something realistic, durable, and portable– and give old sticks a second life,” John recalls.

Seven years of prototyping and testing led to the launch of the first Transformer Pylon in 2023. By combining the portability of a cone with the structure and versatility of a traditional pylon, it quickly became a game-changing innovation.

Today, Transformer Hockey Pylons are trusted by coaches at every level– from youth programs to some of the top NHL teams– who use them to elevate skill development and create more realistic training environments.

With adjustable height and reach, the Transformer Pylon can replicate everything from a developing defenseman to a full-grown pro, giving players a realistic, adaptable training partner on the ice.

Sustainability is also central to its design. By allowing players to upcycle old hockey sticks into high-performance training tools, the Transformer Pylon keeps equipment in use and out of landfills– a solution that supports both the game and the planet.
